In my work, the creation of sound art is my primary means of artistic expression. Sound art serves as a vital tool for understanding and examining experiences. I have an enquiry based creative practice that explores the concept of naturecultures, a synthesis of nature and culture that recognizes their inseparability in ecological relationships that are both biophysically and socially formed. I have worked as an artist creating installations, exhibitions, performances, taught and published work nationally and internationally since 2005.
BreedingWaders recorded at Baldershead Reservoir and Hill Gill Farm, Baldersdale, North Pennines.
Features Curlew, Oyster Catcher, Lapwing, Redshank. Other birds include Sky Lark and Meadow Pipit.
The recordings made at Baldershead Reservoir, were carried out in collaboration with the young people who took part in the field recording workshop and Kerryanne Higgens Engagement Officer for Tees-Swale Naturally Connected. They form part of the Calling The Curlew Project.
